The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 seeks to overhaul India’s online gaming landscape by introducing a comprehensive regulatory framework while at the same time imposing a blanket ban on the operation of Real Money Games (RMGs). The legislation, aimed at curbing issues such as increasing addiction among the youth towards RMGs, has far-reaching consequences not only for players but also for the industry and investors who have fueled its rapid growth.
